Gregg County Criminal District Attorney, Mr. Tom B. Watson, is currently accepting resumes for a misdemeanor prosecutor position.
Mr. Watson is seeking strong and experienced prosecutors with a passion for trying cases and seeking justice. While other offices in the State may be taking softer stances on certain crimes, the Gregg County District Attorney’s Office is just the opposite. We are progressive and passionate about seeking justice for our citizens. We strive to build strong working relationships with our law enforcement and community groups to address the problems in our county. We want fighters for justice!
The appropriate candidate will have the ability to manage a large caseload from complaint through sentencing, a working knowledge of criminal law and court procedures; the ability to both take and give direction, and the desire and ability to successfully try cases before a judge or jury.
Other responsibilities include case preparation and evaluation, witness interviews, conferring with law enforcement and victims, drafting legal motions and correspondence, and negotiations of appropriate case resolutions. The appropriate applicant must be diplomatic and respectful to others, use good judgment and common sense, and possess the skills needed to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the staff, other attorneys, law enforcement, and the community we serve.
Must pass a criminal background check and the required drug screening.
Commensurate with experience, but extremely competitive for counties of similar size.
