Assistant District Attorney

The 123rd District Attorney’s Office is accepting applications for an Assistant District Attorney.  This District Attorney’s office prosecutes felony cases in Shelby County, with its office in Center, Texas.  

The Assistant District Attorney will be responsible for reviewing assigned intake cases and managing an assigned caseload from indictment to final resolution, including appeal.  Caseload management will include, in part, investigating and evaluating cases, preparing for, and attending pre-trial and trial proceedings, negotiating plea agreements, interviewing witnesses and victims in preparation for trial, and drafting appeals.  

Additional duties will include assisting the Shelby County Attorney in the prosecution of some misdemeanor cases and county civil legal work as needed. 

All levels of experience may apply including those awaiting bar exam results.  The start date for the position is immediate.    

The salary for this position is dependent upon experience and includes benefits such as health insurance, along with participation in the Texas District and County Retirement System, with bar dues, TDCAA membership, and approved CLE paid by the office.
