The Travis County District Attorney’s Office (TCDAO) is seeking experienced district attorneys and recent law grads interested in joining our fall 2022 class of new attorneys.
District Attorney Jose Garza took office in January of 2021 after running on a campaign of criminal justice reform. Since taking office, the TCDA has greatly expanded diversion, implemented a bail policy geared towards safety and not wealth, committed to prosecuting powerful actors, and ensuring that victims of crime are treated with dignity and respect.
The ideal candidate will have exhibited a strong interest in public interest law and criminal justice reform and interest or experience in trial practice (or litigation), as shown by internships, volunteer work, and class choice. Candidates must possess a willingness to think outside the box, and a desire to use the power of the prosecution to create a more fair and just system that will end mass incarceration in Travis County and keep our community safe. We are particularly interested in non-traditional candidates who have been impacted by the criminal justice system or have a strong desire to change it.
