About the 51st and 119th District Attorneys’ Office
The 51st and 119th District Attorneys share jurisdiction within Tom Green County, while the 51st District Attorney also serves Coke, Irion, Schleicher, and Sterling Counties, and the 119th District Attorney also serves Concho and Runnels Counties. We are the only jurisdiction in the State in which two elected district attorneys share the same office, the same support staff, and the same Assistant District Attorneys. For this reason, it is imperative that we all work closely as a team in our effort to seek justice within our community and to hold defendants accountable for their conduct. Our office has always maintained a strong emphasis on family values among our prosecutors and support staff. We love what we do and we work hard to get the job done, but we also take care of each other in the process. We have a total of thirty-two employees which include twelve prosecutors, three investigators, and four victim-witness coordinators. While our office has jurisdiction over adult felony offenders, we also have jurisdiction over juvenile offenders who commit both misdemeanor and felony offenses.
About the Concho Valley

San Angelo has excellent schools, medical facilities, restaurants, shopping, sports, hunting, fishing, and a vibrant culture. We are the home of highly rated Angelo State University, part of the Texas Tech system, which offers a wide variety of undergraduate and graduate programs and has close to 11,000 students. We are also home to Goodfellow Air Force Base whose main mission is intelligence and cryptologic training and is a vital part of our community. San Angelo offers an array of arts and culture such as the San Angelo Symphony and Ballet, several performing arts centers and theaters, and multiple museums. Last, but not least, every year our community hosts the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo which is one of the longest running rodeos world-wide.
Duties and Responsibilities
Attorney II: Attorney II is the entry level position for Felony Prosecutors. While preference will be given to candidates with prosecutorial experience, we will consider candidates without prosecutorial experience who have an eagerness to learn and a heart for service to their community. The successful candidate won’t be disappointed with the breadth of experience they will gain from this position. Responsibilities will include reviewing cases referred by law-enforcement, drafting indictments, presenting cases to a grand jury, attending pretrial hearings, and participating in contested proceedings including bond-reduction hearings, asset forfeiture hearings, motions to suppress evidence, hearings on motions to revoke probation, bench trials and jury trials. The successful candidate may also manage, or participate in management of, the juvenile caseload including case evaluation with the juvenile probation department, drafting of petitions, and participation in detention hearings, adjudication hearings, and trials. While all of our prosecutors participate in the case intake process, each prosecutor is responsible for managing assigned cases from indictment through appeal. The position also involves conferring with witnesses, victims, law enforcement officials, and, of course, defense counsel, regarding pending cases. An ability to effectively communicate and to work well with others is a must. Note that the successful candidate’s responsibilities will not necessarily be limited to the duties described above, and may encompass additional assignments related to the position as assigned by a supervisor. As you can imagine, this is an incredible opportunity for anyone wishing to obtain courtroom experience and learn the intricacies of felony criminal prosecution from the ground up.
Attorney III: Attorney III is the experienced level position for Felony Prosecutors. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in all aspects of felony prosecution listed for the Attorney II with first-chair jury-trial experience preferred. This position will require a high level of independent responsibility over a general felony caseload and the ability to prioritize and manage more complex felony cases.
