Attorney III – appellate

The primary duty of an Attorney III in the Dallas County Criminal DA Office’s Appellate Division is responding to direct appeals in non-capital cases. Other duties might include: initiating and prosecuting state’s appeals in non-capital cases (including the training of trial attorneys how to preserve the record for such state’s appeals); providing legal research and trial support to the trial division and other specialized sections of the office, including temporary assignment to the trial team of certain felony offenses; providing legal research and opinion to Division Chief and DA Admin on various internal department matters; proposing, drafting, and testifying regarding proposed legislation; investigating and preparing State’s response to post-conviction applications for writs of habeas corpus; researching and preparing State’s answers to expunction petitions.

Attorney III pay range $85,948.32-120,639.60; max in-hire $97,013.28.
