JOB TITLE:                    Attorney, Violence Against Women

JOB SUMMARY:             Under the direct supervision of the Chief Felony Prosecutor, the Violence Against Women Attorney handles cases involving victims of sexual assault, stalking, and intimate partner/family violence crimes. This position requires a thorough knowledge of all phases of criminal prosecution and law enforcement procedures, as well as civil proceedings concerning protective orders.  This individual is responsible for the prosecution of adult domestic and sexual violence, misdemeanor, and felony offenders in all the County Courts at Law and the District Courts.  This individual has daily contact with the public and is responsible for assisting the Criminal District Attorney with trying cases and handling criminal law matters involving domestic violence and/or sexual violence against women.

QUALIFICATIONS:         High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.  Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year College or university and a J.D. (law) degree are required.  The individual should possess a thorough working knowledge of law enforcement and court procedures and practices.  One (1) years’ experience is required. The individual must have a Texas Law license.

SALARY:                         E14    –    $95,386.98/annually
