Working under the general supervision of the Criminal District Attorney, the Chief Civil Prosecutor has the responsibility for supervising the commissioners Court Attorney, Juvenile, and Child Protective Services prosecutors, legal assistants, and interns. This individual will have daily contact with the public and is responsible for assisting the Criminal District Attorney with trying cases and handling legal matters. This position requires a thorough knowledge of law enforcement procedures and all phases of civil law. As General Counsel to Comal County, the Chief Civil Prosecutor represents Commissioners Court, Elected Officials, and Department Heads, with responsibility to research and answer all legal questions, advise Elected Officials, and Department Heads of legal implications of decisions, review county contracts and land purchase agreements, and advise on procedure and compliance with the Open Meetings and Public Acts.

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university and a J.D. (law) degree are required. Individuals should possess a thorough working knowledge of law enforcement and court procedures and practices. Over five (5) years of experience is required. Must pass criminal background check and take/pass drug screen. Must have valid TX driver’s license and be insurable by Comal County Insurance provider.

Pay Group E16 Starting at $90,627.11/annually
Salary will be commensurate with experience.
