Civil Assistant County Attorney

The Wilson County Attorney’s Office located in Floresville, Texas is accepting applications for the following position: Civil Assistant County Attorney

This position will report directly to the County Attorney and will be tasked with all civil matters that are handled by the Office of the County Attorney, up to an including: drafting and/or reviewing documents, contract interpretation, acting as a liaison with Commissioner Court, issuing advisory opinions to elected officials and department heads, representing the County in actions related to public health and safety regulations, attending meetings of committees or other Boards that serve the County, interacting with the public and addressing public concerns of a civil nature that may involve the County of Wilson. Hours of work vary, but typically will be aligned with a Mon-Fri weekly schedule. Travel to conferences and/or continuing education events may be required. The position requires a working knowledge of civil, administrative, and governmental law and is research intensive.


Position requirements:


Licensed attorney in the state of Texas or other jurisdiction with application pending in Texas. Applicant must have no disciplinary history (including private reprimands) with the State Bar of Texas or any other state bar;


Ability to work with a team and support staff and/or unsupervised on projects assigned by department head;


Ability to meet or exceed deadlines on legal research or document review;


Ability to interact with elected officials and the public and provide advice and legal counsel upon request;
