Crime Victim Restitution Analyst – Part Time

NOTE:  Grants Position – 20 Hours Per Week
Primarily responsible for assisting victims with the crime victim’s compensation fund applications, processing restitution requests for victims directly, processing restitution requests for the Office of the Attorney General-Victims of Crime Fund, tracking and reporting restitution requested and ordered to the County Auditor and the Office of the Attorney General respectively. Other responsibilities include supporting the Victim Assistance Coordinator with victim impact statements, follow-up with victims, outreach, training (internal and external), information and referral services.
  
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Include the following:

Assists victims with Office of the Attorney General-Victims of Crime Fund applications, follow-up, appeals, and responses.
 
Coordinate with victims of crime regarding restitution needs not met through the Office of the Attorney
 
General-Victims of Crime Fund and providing such restitution requests to prosecutor assigned to the relevant criminal case.
 
Track, review, and report restitution requested and/or ordered. Submit such tracking to the County Auditor and/or Office of the Attorney General as required by law, grant program, Nueces County, and office policy.
 
Support Victim/Witness coordinator, Victim Assistance Coordinator, and other Victim Services personnel with follow-up with victims of crime.
 
Support Victim/Witness coordinator, Victim Assistance Coordinator, and other Victim Services personnel with community outreach.
 
Support Victim/Witness coordinator, Victim Assistance Coordinator, and other Victim Services personnel with internal and external training for victim services.
 
Support Victim/Witness coordinator, Victim Assistance Coordinator, and other Victim Services personnel with providing victims of crime information and referral of services.
 
Assists prosecutors with court accompaniment and victim communications, including translation when necessary.
 
Other tasks as directed by the Victim/Witness Coordinator, Victim Assistance Coordinator, prosecutors, and office leadership. 
  
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Associates degree in social work, psychology, public administration, legal/paralegal services or related field OR one year of experience in an organization that is involved with customer service, delivery of human services and/or the criminal justice system or legal office. Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities, may be considered for current Nueces County employees only.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Working knowledge of the Criminal Justice System and human/victim services delivery systems. Familiarity with word processing, excel, database, and general computer systems. Familiarity with community resources. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other county employees and officials, representatives of victim/witness advocacy and assistance groups, court personnel, attorneys and the general public. Ability to work with crime victims. Ability to speak fluent Spanish as well as English is preferred.
