The Fort Bend County District Attorney’s Office is seeking a deputy chief prosecutor for its Domestic Violence Division. Applicants should be Texas licensed attorneys in good standing with at least three years of job-related experience, and should possess a thorough working knowledge of criminal prosecution and court procedure. The ideal candidate for this position has extensive felony trial experience, and previous supervisory experience is desirable.
The Domestic Violence Division handles the investigation and prosecution of criminal conduct between adult family members, co-habitants, and within dating relationships. Relevant charges may be filed in both the county and district courts. They also oversee the protective order support staff and represent those applicants in the family courts. The Deputy Chief will assist the chief prosecutor in the supervision, training and administration of the attorneys and staff. The position will handle complex cases requiring more experience, and warrant writing and review. The division prosecutes vertically: from intake through the discovery, plea negotiation, and trial process, including assisting on appeal. The position should also plan to actively participate with our non-profit partners and be a resource for the community. Strong case evaluation, writing, and communication skills will be required as well as proficiency to provide education to grand jurors, law enforcement, and community members.
Fort Bend County is one of the most diverse counties in the nation and is only thirty minutes from downtown Houston. The annual salary for this position starts at $111,446.40. Bar dues and CLE are paid for by the office. Relevant Texas Board of Legal Specialization certifications allow for additional compensation of $5,000 annually.
