JOB OPENING – Assistant Criminal District Attorney, Family Violence Prosecutor.
The Gregg County D.A.’s Office seeks an attorney for the Family Violence Section who is experienced with the trial of misdemeanor and felony cases, and has a thorough knowledge of all phases of criminal prosecution and law enforcement procedures. Experience with, and the desire to successfully handle, cases involving family violence crimes is sought.
The applicant must be licensed to practice law in Texas and be in good standing with the State Bar of Texas. The individual must have experience successfully prosecuting all types of misdemeanor or felony cases to a jury; the ability to manage a large trial docket; a thorough working knowledge of criminal law and court procedures; and the ability to both take and give direction. The appropriate candidate will have the ability to oversee the family violence caseload from intake through sentencing, and the desire and ability to successfully try cases before a judge or jury. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, case preparation and evaluation, witness interviews, conferring with law enforcement and victims, drafting a variety of legal motions and correspondence, and negotiations of appropriate case resolutions. The appropriate applicant must be diplomatic and respectful to others, use good judgment and common sense, and possess the skills needed to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the staff, other attorneys, law enforcement, and the community we serve. Must pass a criminal background check and the required drug screening.
Salary: $73,000 per year.
