Interested in making an impact?  We have an immediate opening for a Border Prosecutor that will handle human smuggling cases in the district.  We offer flexible hours in a family-oriented office.  The 81st Judicial District Attorney’s Office is looking for a dedicated felony prosecutor committed to serving our five counties south of San Antonio: Atascosa, Frio, Karnes, LaSalle, and Wilson Counties.  The office is headquartered in Floresville, 30 miles south of San Antonio.  We are looking for someone that not only has the ability to try felony cases but enjoys working in a close-knit, team environment.

Qualifications: Doctor of Jurisprudence from an accredited law school, licensed to practice law in the State of Texas, and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas; a minimum of two (2) years experience in prosecution; knowledge and practical use of Word, PowerPoint, and LexisNexis are a must; must be willing to travel within the district, but prosecutors are assigned to each county.

Duties: Timely handling of assigned cases from intake through trial; evaluating cases, drafting indictments and presentation to the grand jury; discussing cases with probation officers, law enforcement, victims, and witnesses; handling all necessary pre-trial matters including plea-bargain negotiations and evidentiary/suppression hearings; preparing cases for trial by issuing subpoenas, preparing witnesses, communicating and keeping victims informed on cases, and filing all necessary motions and notices. 

Salary:   Up to $97,000 for seasoned prosecutors, but the salary is dependent upon the level and years of felony prosecutorial experience. The District Attorney’s office pays bar dues, dues for approved associations, a county vehicle will be assigned, and approved continuing legal education expenses. You are not required to live in the district.
