Felony Prosecutor and Court Chief

The Angelina County District Attorney’s Office has an upcoming opening for a felony prosecutor who will serve as a Court Chief in one of two district courts in the county.  Applicants should have a minimum of 5 years experience in criminal law with at least 3 years experience as a prosecutor.  The court chief will serve as the lead prosecutor in the assigned court and will be responsible for overseeing the management of that court’s docket.  The court chief duties will include prosecuting newly assigned cases from intake through disposition, reviewing and evaluating files currently pending in the office, and review and assessment of files assigned to other prosecutors in the designated court.  The court chief may serve as a liaison between the court, its staff and the District Attorney to manage trial scheduling and other administrative issues that may arise.  The Angelina County District Attorney’s Office is a fast-paced office that serves two active district courts with approximately 48 trial settings each year.  The selected prosecutor will be expected to evaluate cases, contact victims, work with law enforcement agencies, negotiate pleas, and try appropriate cases to jury verdicts. 

The base salary for this position is $82000.00.  Applicants must be licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas.  The position includes paid health insurance, retirement benefits through TDCRS, paid MCLE costs and bar dues.
