There is an immediate opening for a Prosecutor with the Special Prosecution Unit headquartered in Huntsville, Texas with offices around the state. Location of this position is in the North West region of Texas. The Special Prosecution Unit prosecutes all crimes that occur in and on the property of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

The position requires at least 2 years of experience as a prosecutor, which is preferred, or practicing attorney with a criminal law and juvenile law background. Applicant must be able to present any type of misdemeanor, and/or felony case in a competent and professional manner to a Grand Jury and a trial jury. Prior felony trial experience is required.

Job responsibilities include: performing case evaluation, presentation of case to Grand Jury, case preparation, appearances at motion dockets, plea dockets and jury trials.

Additional duties include regular legal advice to the Office of Inspector General, the investigators working the prison crimes.

Some travel will be required.

Salary to be commensurate with experience. Bar dues, CLE and insurance provided.
