Protective Services Prosecutor

The Cameron County District Attorney’s Office (Brownsville) is in search of a new Protective Services Prosecutor. This Prosecutor will handle DFPS/CPS and APS matters. Duties will include all aspects of litigation, from intake through trial. Additional collateral criminal and civil duties may be assigned as required. Applicants should be licensed to practice law in the state of Texas and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas.

The Protective Services Prosecutors are housed in the Brownsville Office of Child Protective Services and travel to the courthouse for sessions in the associate children’s protection court, the District Courts, or County Court 4 (Local Probate Court)

All attorneys (including the District Attorney) keep an open-door policy and value the opportunity to mentor and teach younger prosecutors. Salary is dependent on experience with the base salary being $63,000. Benefits included a pension plan (contribution matched 2 to 1 by the county), 2 weeks of annual personal leave, 2 weeks of annual sick leave, health insurance, and premium time for working over 40 hours a week.
