Texas is embarking on a record-setting $100 billion 10-year statewide roadway construction plan to help grow transportation and the economy in Texas.
The legal team in TxDOT’s ROW Division plays a crucial role in assisting with the purchase and or condemnation of property needed for the projects in this plan. The ROW Division and its legal team are centered in Austin, but also have staff and offices distributed around the state to better serve each local TxDOT district.
A ROW Division attorney works closely with project staff and consultants to assist with real property conveyances, title curative matters, service of process questions, and regulatory and statutory compliance relating to eminent domain process. Key goals of the position are to serve the fast-paced needs of TxDOT’s projects, to provide quality and compliance control for cases proceeding to litigation counsel, and to provide analysis of complex and varied issues relating to ROW Division’s areas of responsibility, including contracts, utility issues, commercial sign regulation, and real property disposition.
The ideal candidate will have a background in real property law, particularly as it relates to property acquisitions on behalf of a condemning entity and will be an experienced team-player.
