Victim Advocate Position

The County of Potter needs qualified individuals to fill the following position. JOB DESCRIPTION:      

Provide services to victims of crime, which may include but are not limited to the following: Crisis intervention, death notifications, crime victims compensation information and assistance, referrals to community services, victim accompaniment and advocacy within the Criminal Justice System, ensure victims are afforded their rights within the system, prepare and maintain grant statistics, process victim notifications and files. Supervision and training of volunteers and/or staff, victim transportation when necessary. Duties may vary with experience, personal strengths, job needs and changes necessitated by law or local need and assignments.         

Grant funded positions.                            

JOB REQUIREMENTS:  

Educational – Bachelors Degree in human services field or equivalent experience in victim services field or criminal justice.

Skills and Abilities – Must be able to relate to all age levels, socioeconomic and racial groups.  Must have the ability to listen, understand and communicate.

Must be able to work responsibly with little or no supervision.

Supervision experience.   

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES REQUIRED:

Including but not limited to: Bending, Carrying, Crouching, Cutting, Kneeling, Handling, Hearing, Holding, Sitting, Walking, Squatting, Turning, Stooping, Climbing, Crawling, and Standing. Must be able to lift approximately 50 lbs.

SALARY:  $42,000
