Jury Selection in Impaired Driving Prosecutions - San Antonio

Friday, December 7, 2018

This training is for Prosecutors only!

Registration for this training is now closed. However, we will be accepting walk-ins.

Most seasoned prosecutors agree that a case is won or lost in jury selection. Yet with limited time and a plethora of issues in a DWI case, picking a jury is a real challenge. Additionally, DWI is the rare case where most of your jurors (or at least a friend or relative) has committed the offense you are trying. So the challenge is on! This course is designed for prosecutors picking juries, especially in impaired driving cases. We will address the statutory and case law concerning jury selection, along with some basic strategies. Then we will cover actual jury selection issues. Each topic will be discussed, an example provided, and the example deconstructed. This class will be highly participatory, and new as well as experienced prosecutors are encouraged to attend and to speak out.

This free program will provide 4 hours of (free!) CLE; all attendees will also receive copies of two TDCAA publications, also free of charge.

This training is offered by TDCAA through our TxDOT Grant. Reimbursement for attending this training is not provided.
