In Remembrance of ADA Robert Patrick Rodriguez

Today, my office mourns the loss of Assistant District Attorney Robert Patrick Rodriguez who passed away suddenly Sunday night at the age of 48.  “Patrick”, as he was known to all, was a successful civil litigator at one of the most well regarded firms in South Texas when I met him.  When I asked him why he wanted to join Team CCDA he said, “I want to make a difference”.   Patrick understood that being an ADA would allow him more time to be with his beloved family, to spend time with his kids, and to have a direct impact on his hometown, Brownsville.  He had some big wins in the courtroom, took the losses hard, but also remained focused on what mattered most: the victims.  When he wasn’t prosecuting cases, he was known by his coworkers for his good humor, huge heart, and compassion.   Outside of the office his family was his priority, a dedicated father to his two boys, and husband to wife Nancy.  It saddens me we will no longer be able to chat about his kids, the Longhorns, or what is being showcased at the Camille Playhouse, one of his passions. While his chair sits empty today, the moments and memories we each have of Patrick will continue to fill our hearts forever.  He will truly be missed.  Our deepest condolences are with his family, and we ask the community to please pray for his loved ones during this difficult time.
