Salary range $118,510 to $137,994.
The Johnson County Attorney’s Office is seeking applications for a full-time misdemeanor prosecutor position. This position handles all aspects of misdemeanor prosecution including case intake, bond hearings, plea negotiations, trial preparation, jury/bench trials, and probation revocation hearings. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- All aspects of prosecution of Class A and B misdemeanor criminal offenses, including case intake through disposition
- Preparation of pleadings, motions, orders, warrants, briefs, and related legal documents
- Represent the State in court hearings, trials, plea negotiations, and other proceedings.
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of applicable state and federal laws, regulations and court procedures.
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Strong work ethic and commitment to ethical prosecution.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships with colleagues, law enforcement, court personnel, victims, witnesses, and the public.
- Ability to manage caseload and prioritize competing demands.
- Sound judgment and the ability to make timely decisions.
- Strong courtroom presentation and trial advocacy skills
- Willingness to learn and collaborate.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law in the State of Texas with at least five (5) years legal experience, and in good standing with the State.
- Must pass a pre‑employment drug test and background investigation
