Assistant County Attorney (Juvenile, Truancy, Protective Orders)

SAN PATRICIO COUNTY ATTORNEY

POSITION: Assistant County Attorney for the prosecution of Juveniles, Truancy, and Protective Orders

STARTING SALARY: $100,000.00 annually 

Salary commensurate with experience

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Minimum of 1 to 3 years of relevant legal experience preferred
  • Knowledge of law enforcement procedures and court operations
  • Knowledge of the Family Code and Rules of Civil Procedure
  • Must successfully pass a criminal background check and drug screening

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluate, file, and prosecute juvenile cases from intake to trial and appeal.
  • Collaborate with victims, law enforcement, and defense counsel to ensure fair and just outcomes.
  • Conduct legal research, draft motions, and make courtroom appearances for hearings and trials.
  • Provide prosecution and assistance to all Justice of the Peace Courts within the County
  • Exercise sound discretion to seek justice over conviction, balancing accountability with fairness.
  • Uphold the highest ethical standards in all actions and decisions.

The Juvenile Prosecutor shall provide back-up assistance to the functions of the County Attorney, including assisting with CPS cases, Bail Bond Forfeitures, Mental Commitments, prosecution of Adult Misdemeanor cases, including case in the Justice of the Peace Court.  Additionally, all Assistant County Attorneys may be required to assist with other functions and duties within the office as assigned by the County Attorney.
