Position Specifications

Responsibilities
• Review and screen criminal cases, both misdemeanors and felonies
• Determine appropriate charges
• Prepare felony indictments and present cases to the Grand Jury
• Handle all aspects of prosecution through trial or disposition
• Conduct motion hearings and plea negotiations
• Assist with specialty dockets as needed (CPS, Drug Court, JP Court)

Qualifications/Education:
• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university
• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
• Currently licensed to practice law in the State of Texas and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas (Recent law school graduates awaiting Texas bar results may apply – continued employment will be conditioned on passing the bar)
• Prosecutorial experience preferred, but not required.
