Assistant Criminal District Attorney
Location: Carthage, Panola County, Texas
Salary: $105,000 – $125,000, commensurate with experience
Summary: Under general direction, prepare and prosecute cases in court and perform related legal functions. This position is intended for an experienced attorney capable of handling a variety of criminal legal matters.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Handle caseload from in-take through disposition. Ensure all legal deadlines are met.
- Manage criminal dockets in District and County Courts.
- Evaluate cases: review of offense reports, videos & criminal histories; requesting additional investigations/information as needed; interview witnesses & victims; drafting charging instruments;
- Conduct negotiations and relevant legal discussions with opposing counsel.
- Maintain communication with peace officers, probations officers, victims and witnesses on pending cases.
- Computer literate and proficient, able to use case management, word processing, etc. software.
- Prepare cases for jury or bench trials, including pretrial motions, orders, etc.
- Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.

The Office consists of four attorney positions: the Elected Criminal District Attorney, a First Assistant Criminal District Attorney and two Assistant Criminal District Attorneys.
