BASTROP COUNTY CRIMINAL DISTRICT ATTORNEY’S OFFICE is a 10-attorney office acting under the direction of the elected CDA, Bryan Goertz.
Located in the heart of central Texas and contiguous to Travis County (or as we like to say, “just east of weird”), Bastrop County has a population of approximately 120,000+ and consists of 3 incorporated cities and various rural communities. In 2026 it was ranked as the 14th fastest growing county in Texas. In 2025 we indicted approximately 600 new felony cases. POSITION OVERVIEW: This position will assist with the prosecution of major felonies, with its primary focus on violent and assaultive crimes. The caseload consists of offenses that are more inclined to go to trial and the successful candidate will have extensive trial experience and a thorough knowledge of criminal law, procedure and evidence.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience:
Extensive criminal trial experience and a strong knowledge of criminal law, procedure and evidence
Education:
Graduation from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.
Licensing:
Licensed to practice law in the State of Texas; Valid Texas driver’s license.
