The District Attorney’s Office in San Angelo, Texas, is accepting applications for an Assistant District Attorney. Our team consists of twelve (12) prosecutors, three (3) investigators and sixteen (16) office personnel. San Angelo is a thriving West Texas Community of approximately 100,000, which includes Angelo State University, historic Fort Concho, and Goodfellow Air Force Base.
The successful applicant will be responsible for reviewing assigned intake cases and managing an assigned caseload from indictment to final resolution, including appeal. Caseload management will include, in part, investigating and evaluating cases, preparing for and attending pre-trial and trial proceedings, negotiating plea agreements, interviewing witnesses and victims in preparation for trial, and drafting appeals.
The applicant must be licensed to practice law in Texas with the ability to understand and interpret statutes, constitutional provisions, and administrative regulations; ability to effectively prepare and litigate cases in court; ability to work effectively with members of the legal profession, law enforcement personnel, co-workers and county department representatives, and the public.
The salary for this position will depend upon experience and includes benefits such as health, dental, and optional vision insurance, along with participation in the Texas District and County Attorney Retirement Program. Membership dues to the state and local bar are paid by the office.
