The Henderson County District Attorney’s Office is seeking an Assistant District Attorney. This office handles only felony criminal cases and is seeking an applicant who has the desire to try cases.
This office is staffed by 7 attorneys including the elected District Attorney, 2 investigators, 2 Victim Assistance Coordinators, an office manager, and support staff.
Responsibilities include handling all aspects of a felony caseload for a District Court, including occasional appellate and writ work. Applicant should be licensed to practice law in Texas and in good standing. However, we are willing to consider the appropriate candidate waiting on bar results.
The applicant should have a strong work ethic and be able to work well with others. There will significant contact with the public, crime victims, and law enforcement. Additionally, the applicant must pass a drug test prior to employment.
The salary ranges between $79,397 to $86,851 per year plus benefits including health insurance with optional dental and vision, and participation in the State District and County Attorney Retirement program. Additional benefits include coverage of MCLE costs and state and local bar dues.
The office is located in Athens, Texas approximately 40 minutes from Tyler, Canton and Palestine and one hour from Dallas.
