The Henderson County District Attorney’s Office is seeking an Assistant District Attorney. This office handles only Felony criminal cases.
This office is staffed by 8 attorneys including the District Attorney, 2 investigators, an Office Manager, and support staff.
The salary range, which include county pay and SB22 supplement is up to $115,000 per year plus benefits including health insurance with optional dental and vision, and participation in the State District and County Attorney Retirement program. Additional benefits include coverage of MCLE costs and state and local bar dues.
Responsibilities include all aspects of felony prosecution, including: handling a felony caseload for a District Court, plea negotiations, protective orders, motions practice, witness preparation and victim interaction, law enforcement interaction, trials, and appeals. The applicant must be licensed to practice law in Texas and in good standing, with a preferred two years’ experience in criminal law and some trial experience.
The applicant should have a strong work ethic and be able to work well with others. Additionally, the applicant should have the desire, temperament and ability to try cases before a judge or jury. There will be significant contact with the public, crime victims, and law enforcement.
The office is located in Athens, Texas approximately 40 minutes from Tyler, Canton and Palestine and one hour from Dallas.
