Assistant District Attorney- Felony Prosecution

The Liberty County District Attorney’s Office will have an opening for an experienced felony Assistant District Attorney, effective immediately.
Major duties include:
- Felony case review; responds to crime scenes as needed; determines if criminal charges are justified; assists law enforcement with search warrants and affidavits; reviews offense reports and witness statements; reviews charging instruments.
- Prepares criminal cases for trial; meets with witnesses and victims; reviews evidence; visits crime scenes; reviews pertinent case law; creates visual aids; meets with law enforcement officers.
- Represents the State in felony criminal trials and hearings.
- Reviews criminal cases for appropriate plea offers and dispositions; presents cases to Grand Jury; reviews indictments; recommends bonds and bond conditions.
- Participates in community outreach activities and represents the office to civic organizations.
- Coordinates with community supervision officers with regards to the appropriate terms and conditions of probation, progress of probationers, and issues related to the revocation, modification, or adjudication of individuals on probation.
- Participates in training activities.
- Able to report regularly for work and be on time.
- Performs related duties as requested by the District Attorney.
Qualifications:
- Graduated from an accredited school of law.
- Experience as a prosecutor.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the ethical principles of law.
- Current membership in the State Bar of Texas, in good standing.
- Must be able to conduct self in a professional manner and develop and maintain good working relationships with visitors, witnesses, law enforcement, co-workers, attorneys, judges and Liberty County officials.
- Must pass a pre-employment physical exam and drug test, paid for by Liberty County.
- Must be able to pass a thorough background investigation conducted by Liberty County.
Starting salary is $124,345.62 or more, depending upon the availability of Senate Bill 22 funding and experience.
