The 51st & 119th District Attorneys’ Office in San Angelo, Texas, is accepting applications for an Assistant District Attorney with an emphasis on Tom Green County felony motions to revoke probation. Our office prosecutes felony criminal cases and juvenile cases and represents Tom Green, Coke, Concho, Irion, Runnels, Schleicher, and Sterling Counties. The 51st & 119th District Attorneys share concurrent jurisdiction over Tom Green County and share office space, staff, and prosecutors. The office is staffed by 11 prosecutors (including both elected officials and their First Assistants), three investigators, an office manager, 12 support staff and four staff members dedicated to victim services.
The successful applicant will manage all aspects of the felony Motion to Revoke (MTR) docket to include reviewing violation reports submitted by the Community Supervision and Corrections Department, drafting MTRs, attending the MTR docket call in District Court, representing the State in contested MTR hearings, and negotiating plea agreements with defense counsel. The successful applicant will also assist in screening and conducting intake on assigned indicted felony cases, and will manage an assigned felony caseload from intake through final resolution, including appeal. Caseload management will include, in part, evaluating cases, preparing for and attending pre-trial and trial proceedings, negotiating plea agreements, interviewing witnesses and victims in preparation for trial, and drafting appellate briefs. The ability to work well with other prosecutors and staff in the office is essential, as is the desire and ability to try cases before a judge or jury.
The applicant must be licensed to practice law in Texas, preferably with experience as a prosecutor.
The annual salary for this position is $61,175.72 depending on experience. Additional salary consideration may be given depending on experience. Tom Green County also provides benefits, including health, dental, and optional vision insurance, along with participation in the Texas District and County Retirement program. Membership dues to the state and local bar are paid by the office.
