EMPLOYMENT NOTICE
The Guadalupe County Attorney’s Office is accepting applications for the position of
County Attorney Investigator
Our office is located in Seguin, which is very close to New Braunfels and conveniently located between Austin and San Antonio.
The position requirements are:
- Advanced Peace Officer Certification by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE)
- Appropriate Texas Driver’s license
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Good attitude when dealing with public
- Knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Odyssey Navigator
- Self-motivator, self-starter with excellent organization skills
- Must be Bondable
- Minimum five years of experience as a law enforcement officer, preferably in the State of Texas
Preferred Skills:
- Spanish Speaking
- Basic Fingerprint Certificate
The salary starts at 38.63/hourly. Benefits include Medical Insurance, Paid Holidays, Vacation, Sick and Personal Leave, Short Term Disability, and Retirement.
SUMMARY OF POSITION
This position conducts criminal investigations, prepares criminal cases for court to protect county residents and property, enforces local, state and federal laws. Duties include gathering, analyzing and documenting facts and data necessary for pursuing criminal cases in court.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
This position reports directly to the County Attorney. This is a non-supervisory position that works closely with other law enforcement agencies, criminals and victims of crime and has contact with the general public.
EXAMPLES OF WORK
Essential Duties*
-Conducts investigations and follow up investigations of crimes, which complainants provide police case numbers and give affidavits;
-Interview complainants, witnesses and suspects;
-When directed, serves subpoenas and protective orders
-Obtains written affidavits from complainants, witnesses and suspects at the county attorney’s office;
-Works with the TLETS system for the Guadalupe County Attorney;
-Travels to such locations such as Guadalupe County Jail, Guadalupe County Juvenile Detention Center, residences, high schools, businesses and any other location in and out of the county to obtain written affidavits for follow up investigations;
-Conducts preliminary investigations or special assignments when requested to do so by the County Attorney
-Organize witnesses and make sure they’re present and prepared to testify; Be present in courtroom during trial;
-Be prepared to conduct any and all tasks that attorney’s request in a timely manner.
-Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.

Regular attendance is essential. Must arrive at work on time, prepared to perform assigned duties, and work assigned schedule. Employee must have the ability to work well with others. Employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position without posing a direct threat to the health and safety of themselves and others. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of: criminal and civil law; investigation and crime prevention methods; identification records and procedures; and use and care of vehicles, firearms, and specialized equipment.
Skill/Ability to apply criminal investigative techniques; establish and maintain working relationships with other law enforcement agencies, judicial officials, the District Attorney’s office, and the general public.
Operate a computer; demonstrate proficiency in both oral and written communication; and maintain appropriate necessary certificates, applicable Texas driver’s license and good driving record.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED
This position requires Advanced Certification by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) and appropriate Texas driver’s license. This employee must be bondable.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to walk, sit, stand, crawl, bend and stoop. May be required to lift, carry or push/pull supplies, materials, equipment and/or items weighing up to 24 pounds. Work is primarily conducted indoors but when investigating cases, may be required to work outdoors.
