Assistant District Attorney (Managing Attorney) Grade VI – Litigation

Position:  Dallas County Assistant District Attorney – Civil Division (Grade VI).  This position is in the Civil Division of the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office.

Duties:  Advising the County, its departments, and elected officials on a variety of civil legal issues; representing the County, its employees, and elected officials in civil litigation matters in federal district court as well as before appellate tribunals. Supervises other litigation attorneys, paralegal and support staff.   

Qualifications:  Graduation from accredited law school; current license to practice law in the State of Texas; member in good standing with the State Bar of Texas; 4 years of experience practicing law; and must pass background check.

Preferences:  Prefer 5 or more years of civil litigation with particular experience in the federal courts, including appellate practice experience before a Circuit Court of Appeals; experience in 42 U.S.C. § 1983 litigation; strong research and writing skills; and experience with a governmental entity or private firm with an emphasis on representing municipalities, counties or other units of government.  Experience in employment and civil rights litigation is strongly preferred. Successful candidate must either be currently admitted, or immediately eligible for admission, to practice before the USDC for the Northern District of Texas) and the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Annual Salary Range:  $139,224.36 – $173,976.96 commensurate with qualifications and experience) plus benefits.
