Job Title: Felony Prosecutor
Location: Orange County, Texas
Department: District Attorney’s Office
Employment Type: Full-Time
About the Position:
We are seeking a principled and committed Felony Prosecutor to join our office in the pursuit of justice. In this role, you will help ensure that dangerous individuals are held accountable while also safeguarding the rights of victims, defendants, and the community. This position will handle every aspect of felony prosecution. You will work directly with victims of crimes, law enforcement, and the community.
Why Join Us:
Our office is large enough to handle complex, high-impact felony cases, yet small enough to foster a tight-knit environment between attorneys and staff. You will not get lost in bureaucracy here — as a felony prosecutor, you will be responsible for one of our District Courts. You will have the opportunity to work independently, make a meaningful impact in our community, and work directly with colleagues who care deeply about doing what is right.
Benefits:
This position has a base salary from $80,849.60 to $95,160, depending on experience, and a State Supplement of $25,000 to $31,000, depending on availability of SB22 funds, for a current total compensation package of between $105,849 to $126,160. We also offer 2-1 matching in the TCDRS retirement system, paid CLEs, State Bar of Texas dues, health and dental insurance, and membership to the TDCAA and the Orange County Bar Association.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate, file, and prosecute felony-level cases from intake to trial and appeal.
- Collaborate with victims, law enforcement, and defense counsel to ensure fair and just outcomes.
- Conduct legal research, draft motions, and make courtroom appearances for hearings and trials.
- Exercise sound discretion to seek justice over conviction, balancing accountability with fairness.
- Uphold the highest ethical standards in all actions and decisions.
Ideal Candidate Will:
- Be passionate about justice, public service, and community safety.
- Demonstrate strong trial advocacy and legal analysis skills.
- Show professionalism, compassion, and sound judgment.
- Be committed to the rights of all and the integrity of the legal process.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas.
- Three years of criminal law experience required; prosecution experience preferred, but not required.
