South Dallas Drug Court Outreach Coordinator

The Dallas City Attorney’s Office is seeking an energetic and organized individual with experience in the criminal justice or social work field to serve as the South Dallas Drug Court Outreach Coordinator. The outreach coordinator is responsible for all outreach efforts and outreach-related records management for the City of Dallas South Dallas Drug Court, a specialty court that focuses on high-risk, high-needs individuals with City of Dallas Class C misdemeanor offenses who suffer from alcohol, substance use disorder, mental health, or dual diagnosis issues that contribute to their behavior.

The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: educating law enforcement, judiciary, and the broader community about drug court admission criteria, conducting participant intakes and assessments as needed, identifying new partnerships with social service agencies that can address the needs of the defendants, attending community meetings, performing recruitment efforts to increase participation in the drug court program, providing ongoing review and quality assurance for drug treatment and case management services, coordinating with other internal and external staff and programs to promote participant treatment and recovery. Other duties may be assigned.

This position requires a bachelor’s degree in social work, behavioral sciences, or related field or equivalent experience working in social services, probation, or related fields. The candidate must be proficient in Office Suite products and possess a valid driver’s license. This position sometimes requires working nights and weekends.

Salary is commensurate with experience. The city’s comprehensive benefits package comes with the position. This position is exempt from the provisions applicable to civil service, pursuant to Chapter XVI, Section 9 of the Dallas City Charter.
