About the Position
The Special Prosecution Unit is growing and seeking an experienced, self-motivated prosecutor to handle serious felony cases occurring in correctional facilities across Texas. SPU is headquartered out of Huntsville, Texas, and offers a unique opportunity to serve multiple district attorneys’ offices while maintaining significant autonomy in managing your regional caseload. Location of this position will be dependent upon the applicant and may be a remotely staffed position.
Key Responsibilities
- Prosecute serious felony cases arising from within correctional facilities, mostly in the Northwest Texas region.
- Serve as the primary prosecutor for all cases within your assigned region.
- Collaborate and maintain strong working relationships with local district attorneys and their staff.
- Travel to counties within your region as needed for court appearances.
Required Qualifications
- Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of Texas.
- Prosecution experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel within Texas.
- Commitment to public service and collaborative teamwork.
