EMPLOYMENT NOTICE

The Guadalupe County Attorney’s Office is accepting applications for the position of

Victim Assistance Coordinator

Our office is located in Seguin, which is very close to New Braunfels and conveniently located between Austin and San Antonio.

The position requirements are:

  • Associates degree or a minimum of 3 years of experience working in the criminal justice system/victim services
  • Fluency in Microsoft Word and Odyssey is preferred
  • Experience in criminal prosecution and/or civil litigation is preferred
  • Experience with Protective Orders is preferred

Salary: $24.11 hourly

SUMMARY OF POSITION

Under general supervision, the Victim Assistance Coordinator provides direct services to victims of crime and their families within Guadalupe County.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

This position reports directly to the Office Manager

EXAMPLES OF WORK

Essential Duties*

Evaluate and provide victims with Protective Orders applications;

Set and attend Protective Order hearing with applicant;

Send out Crime Victim Information packets, which include all necessary documentation as required by law;

Contact victims to notify of court hearings and to obtain information for the case;

Prepare paperwork for attorneys;

Assist victims with completion of forms, crime victim’s compensation forms and any other necessary paperwork as pertaining to their case.

Refers victims to social services, shelters and other agencies for assistance.

May be called upon to testify in court;

Maintain records for all victims that come through this office.

Other Important Duties*

Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.

Regular attendance is essential.  Must arrive at work on time, prepared to perform assigned duties, and work assigned schedule.  Employee must have the ability to work well with others.  Employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position without posing a direct threat to the health and safety of themselves and others.  Requested accommodations to work hours and schedules are considered on an individual basis.

Good interpersonal relations including ability to explain difficult concepts in stressful situations, Ability to empathize with crime victims, organize information and maintain deadlines, Ability to appropriately handle sensitive information and deal with people tactfully; establish and maintain effective working relationships with members of the legal profession, law enforcement agencies, fellow employees, and the general public;

This employee must be bondable

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to walk, sit, stand, bend and stoop.  May be required to lift, carry or push/pull supplies, materials, equipment and/or items weighting up to 20 pounds.  Work is primarily conducted indoors.
