Fundamentals of Child Welfare Law

Many prosecutor’s offices in Texas have taken on the important responsibility of representing the Department of Family and Protective Services in legal proceedings related to child welfare in their jurisdiction. In this six-part video course, you will learn the fundamental skills of child welfare law specifically designed for prosecutors that represent the Department of Family and Protective Services. This course is presented by highly experienced Texas prosecutors and DFPS attorneys.

This course is available online only and provides 5.25 hours of MCLE. The cost is $175.

This course was created with assistance from the Children’s Commission. The Children’s Commission is offering a limited number of need-based scholarships for attorneys representing DFPS in the form of reimbursement of registration fees after this course has been completed. Scholarships are limited and are intended for attorneys who are new to practicing child welfare law. Interested applicants must apply for the reimbursement scholarship and will receive notice of their selection prior to registering for this course.
